Magento WordPress Integration Managing Content Blocks in WordPressWordPress Integration

« Back to Magento WordPress Integration

Magento provides CMS Blocks as a way of managing small chunks of content from the Magento backend but these fall way short in what is expected in modern CMS. This is where WordPress comes in. Using FishPig's Magento WordPress Integration, you can manage all of your static blocks in WordPress. You can use WordPress shortcodes in these blocks to create highly designed content blocks and position them anywhere you want in Magento. Let's take a look at how to do this.

Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) Option Fields

To setup content blocks in the WordPress Admin, I recommend using the Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) plugin and Magento add-on module. Using ACF, you can setup options fields, which are custom fields that are not assigned to a post or page but are independent. These are the same as static blocks in Magento except they offer so much more potential. Rather than just be an text editor field, you can create option fields that allow image uploads, selecting related posts or categories, Google Maps or anything else that ACF provides. Use these to populate content all around your Magento website.

Once you have the Options fields setup, check out the ACF Code Examples document as this explains how to retrieve the Options field data in Magento.
