Magento WordPress Integration Legacy Add-On ModulesWordPress Integration

« Back to Magento WordPress Integration

Prior to the release of Shortcodes & Widgets, FishPig created Magento WordPress Integration add-ons that supported a specific plugin. For example, we had a Visual Composer add-on module and this added support for the Visual Composer page builder plugin. We also had a Contact Form 7 add-on module that added support for the Contact Form 7 plugin.

Here is a full list of these add-on modules:

  • Visual Composer
  • Contact Form 7
  • Gravity Forms
  • TablePress
  • Revolution Slider
  • ReciPress
  • bbPress

These plugins were difficult to maintain as they manually rewrote the WordPress plugin code to work in Magento. Small changes in the WordPress plugins could break the Magento add-on module and require an update.

To rememdy this, early in 2017, Shortcodes & Widgets was released. This add-on module adds support for ALL WordPress shortcodes and does so by allowing WordPress to render the shortcode. This means that any update in the plugin that creates the shortcode doesn't break Magento! The plugin also adds support for any widget and brings across JS/CSS from WordPress.

As a result of this new add-on module, the originl add-on modules were no longer needed. These were taken from sale in early 2017 but updates were released for a further 2 years. In March 2019, these updates were discontinued and the legacy add-ons listed above reached their end of life.

If you have any of these add-ons installed, you should uninstall them and upgrade all FishPig modules.

If you want to continue using shortcodes on your site then you should upgrade all FishPig modules and install the Shortcodes add-on module.
